Newly hired employees who decide to relocate for work opportunities are often accompanied to the new city by their partner. Their partner may be a significant other or another family member. Since modern families are typically dual-income families, the “trailing partner” must then look for a new job in the new city. If the partner has trouble finding a new job or otherwise cannot settle into the new location, the newly hired talent won’t stay with the company.
This is problematic for a few reasons. First, it’s necessary to go through the process of finding another new employee to replace the recently departed employee.
